Terrorism’s ugly face.

It is becoming clearer every day that the Jihadi groups in Pakistan are  openly propagating and  preaching  against the Indian nation.The Government of India is being too democratic in the context of its role in the world, and  it has decided to go in for talks with the Pakistanis.It is unfortunate that the Government has not been able to explain to the world that Pakistan is the mother of terrorism in the world and  therefore  it is not possible to talk to such a nation.

The other problem is that the American convert to Islam who is said to have  been a double agent and  who became a rogue by switching  his allegiance to his Pakistani islamic masters, has laid out a plan of attacking cities in India where the Israelis have a presence. Pune is one more case in question.Therefore it is a failure on the part of the Indian Intelligence  if they  have not yet laid out a plan to meet  the likely  threats to establishments in their vicinity in the country.

The American send  drones to wipe out their terrorist enemies living either in  Afghanistan and Pakistan.We know who are our enemies in Pakistan.These elements hold regular public meetings in Pakistan and openly make anti indian statements.It is time we target their meetings and wipe them out by  drone attacks.The present Pakistan government is too weak. They will never be able to do the job for us. If the Pakistan Government can stomach the American attacks ,they should be able to understand  our actions?(comments) .

TELANGANA A NEW STATE.

The Government of India is considering splitting  the State of Andhra Pradesh into two by creating Telangana.The linguistic state of Andhra Pradesh, was created in the time of Panditji , by a hunger fast that went terribly wrong.  Pottisrimallyu died, whereas he should never have. The agitating  leaders were sure of achieving their demand for the linguistic state ,quite early, but their calculations went wrong and the fasting non entity passed away and also into history,leading to the creation of the state of A.P..

Therefore the G.O.I. did not allow  TRS to die and made sure that he broke his .fast.Now it is only a matter of time and Telangana will be one more state of the Indian Union.The point is the longer it takes to be created ,the worse it will be for the Congress Party led by Sonia.It is strange that the people of these two parts both speak telegu,but are so different in character.While the people of A.P are very industrious  and careful in all their dealings,those of Telegana are the opposite.Give them funds they will splurge these and ask for more and so also in all their traits,it is reported.They are not likely to make their state into a great affair,once it is created?

This brings us  to the issue whether,  it is not time for the creation of  smaller states. and whether there should be more such small  states crafted and created to meet the aspirations and demands of many citizens of India..For instance it may be time for Maharastra to be carved and Konkan  areas be into made a State .Vidharba will have Nagpur as its capital

The people of Mumbai are being denied their rights to hav a state of their own.0r Mukesh Ambani is reported to have said that it was a part of India and therefore all Indians can come to Mumbai.However he probably meant that citizens of Mumbai should be asked whether they want a State of their own?

The administration presently leaves much to be desired.The Municipal Cprporation is governed by the Fascists Shiv Sena.It cadre has no ideology except to fawn on the senior Mr Takhre ,who is a spent force.The cadre is minting money,  discipline is  lax. With the advent of the  second divisive force led by the nephew,it is only a matter of time before the SS will vanish altogether,but enough damage has been done .Its cadres who were non entities, reportedly,rickshaw drivers,shop assistants, or such , are now crorepaties as  declared officially  by them when  filing   details of assets   while standing for  election.The value  of non declared assets is  much more and can be calculated in the number of flats they own in their names or benami in the names of close relatives.These can be valued in  hundreds of crores. afterall the budget of the BMC is 18000 crores? The whole world knows  about the extent of kick backs.The only bright lining is that the Income Tax Department is looking into the large amounts filed by contestents in the recent elections.Lets hope that they begin their enquiries into the accumulations of the Shiv Sena candidates ,epecially as they mostly came not from rich families but rather very poor ones and neveer belonged to the wealthy strata of India,which they are now?

THE INCOME TAX DEPARTMENT IS SAID TO HAVE EVINCED INTEREST IN TAX RETURNS FILED BY CONTESTANTS TO THE RECENT ELECTIONS?

It is indeed good to learn that the I.T Deptt is checking the records to find out how contestants to the many elections held  recently have accumulated  large assets withen short period of four years,whether they have paid Income Tax correctly on these.

It will be good if the Election Commission were to also get its act right and revisit the forms which are filed by contestants by asking for details  of taxes paid  over the years from the date the contestant first entered the political arena.

In Mumbai it is reported a winning candidate at the start of his political journey was reported to be a shop assistant.He has declared personal assets worth 3 crores.However his numerous flats themselves should be worth more than this amount.

It is also  true he runs  a wedding ground . A club house on BMC property.There is said to be a court case  to evict him from this property,but occupying  as he does an important post ,in the BMC ,it will be a miracle if any BMC lawyer will be so strong as to progress the file in Court?

IS INDIA A DEMOCRACY.

India today is an oligarchy.Hundreds of Vallabhais  will not be able to remove this new monied  class who rule the country.This   is the  oligopoly of the rich.

THE SACRED COWS:THE COURTS AND LAWYERS OF INDIA.

It takes on an average 25 years for a person seeking justice to get it thru the Indian Courts.The judges and lawyers and the Government are responsibly for this sad state of affairs.

India has great software engineers,when it comes to  generate efficiencies in the U.S.Europe  or  other countries.But  computerisation of Courts in India is impossible.One Court i.e the Delhi High Court has started a trial run, it is reported, of one bench only.The most famous of Courts  in Inda, the Bombay High Court, has none of its benches computerised or even doing a trial run.Thousands of positions of judges and legal officers are  vacant.The Minister of Law promises to reduce this backlog from 25 years to 3 years,but after his great promise,nothing more is heard and thousands of new cases are piling up. Justice delayed is justice denied.The legal pillar of democracy lies in ruins and Judges and their wives splurge precious income tax payers monies in foeign trips and even a terrorist from Pakistan who killed hundreds is enjoying  the benifits of tax payers monies as he is receiving services of a lawyer paid by  the Indian State.

We can only weep at the passing away of everything we believed India would become.In any case the plain fact is  we are not a democracy in the sense as is  applicable to the economically developed world?

OUR  STATE ELECTIONS TO THE STATE ASSEMBLIES.

In form and feature we are a democracy.But as a matter of fact we are not.This explains .the low turn out.36-40% for the city of Mumbai and probably lesser for the entire state of Maharastra.These days we have oracles who  speak  on T.V . about the reasons for the low turn out but  they never give the real reasons for the apathy.It is strange that our journalists are not well informed.In their comments they mention that being a holiday,mumbai’s citizens have gone for picnics or out to hotels eating or just plain sleeping.Which is all rubbish.The plain fact is nobody has anyhting to gain by these oligarchs from every party winning or losing.These self appointed rich above the law individuals will accumulate a few more crores and pass it to their high command and become ministers and collect the lucre from builders and make believe as if the city is becoming better.The oligaarchs from  hinterland Maharastra know nothing about the requirements of the  people of Mumbai and their needs and so its people are now tired of the circus,so they do not care to bother who will win or lose.If it is the Raj or the Bal,it will be the same.The folks who were throwing stones,will now know how to target Builders and collect funds.In the BMC, every order or contraact comes with a price tag.These guys who have been ruling the BMC for more than a decade are millionaires now.They share this with their high command it is reported.And this high command is protected by the very State,they wish to destroy?No wonder there is voter apathy.Give the Mumbai voter his State and a legislature for Mumbai and see the voter turn out .This is the true reason for the voter apathy.

Coming to Gadchirolli,the so called Naxal area of the State,T.V channels were showing young anchors speaking about how peaceful it was and there was no naxal around and the people were out in strength.  These anchors strangely were  reporting right up  from  where the voters had queued, in the presence of the police and  trying to conduct interviews, in violition of electoral rules.These anchors were asking voters if they were not scared to vote and the reasons they were voting.The answer  they obtained was it was to see peace increase

The T.O.I of date (Tuesday 13,Oct) speaks of the.Govt withdrawing 1 lakh cases against tribals in Jharkhand slapped  on them under the forest conservation act.Imagine these people live in the forests.Their lives are  linked to the forest.They collect leaves,fruits, etc etc from these forests from  where they have been dispossessed of their lands by banias and money lenders. And then the bureaucracy slaps cases against them for petty reasons.They are harrassed by the police.So they find the Naxals are their saviours.These are plain facts which will have to first removed and then naxals will not find refuge or followers among tribals or the poor of our country.How many lives will have to be sacrificed before the Government first understands that  our constitution says  we are a democratic socialist secular republic?Why then are we following a blind capitalist system.The system which makes Ambanis and Birlas and Murthys etc  earn  billions and billions and none of this is used to raise the standard of the more than 50% poor of our country, which figure is increasing inspite of the of the so called 7.5 % yearly  growth figure of our planning commission.

It used to be  said that whatever happened in Bengal, happened later in  the rest of India,This is no more true . the CPM  has ruled Bengal for three decades but they have hardly made any impressions on the rest of the country by showing anything special in administration or schemes for upliftment of the people .They too have become corrupt.They  are now irrritants to the people  who will vote them  out in the next elections. They will be history.

Mamta Banerjee is the C.M in waiting .She will be crowned after two years.But there is a strong school of thought which says that the Reds will not be defeated, the CPM will be .The real winners will be the AMAR BARI,THUMAR BARI,NAXAL BARI  GROUP?Will the rest of India follow and the old  adage which says what happens in Bengal finally ends up in the rest of India, come true, thanks to the lady?

DOES  MINORITY IN INDIA  ONLY MEAN MUSLIMS AND WHY ?

In our country it is common when the word minority is used it generally  refers to matters connected to the muslim community only . Now after the partition , the muslims who decided to remain  in India were quite large. In some parts of the country such as U.P., T.N., Kerala.,Bengal ,their numbers were sizeable.Therefore they should have  done better for themselves  than has  happened. The reasons were because they chose not to go for the liberal style of education but  to their madrasas which kept them backward .Thus they got exploited by their leaders and others.However all said and done social justice demands that all  the minorities in the country should not be left out and all citizens  should share in the fruits equitably.This is what the constitution  recognized and also enjoined by  a time bound removal of disabilities so that the principle  of citizenship got strengthened.Unfortunately this has not happened. We are far from what was expected by our constitution framing fathers  and if what is now happening in the country with every party slogan mongering  the muslims will continue to be pay the price as  their religion cannot face up to the 21st century’s demands.

It is said that Islam is more than a religion.It is also a  political system and   a system of government for its people and others who do not follow islam.They have various schools which lay down the law.The Wahabis of Saudi Arabia are extremists among all these schools.However all  Islamic adherents believe they are enjoined to ensure islam  finally rules the world and all its people i. e non believers  fall in line. as happened  at the start of the movement.The SUNA  is the path. SUNNIS  must ensure this happens.SURA 47 of the Quaran  also lays down what should be done to non  believers.The Prophet is reported to have also fought more tha 60 battles to take over areas which  resisted the growth of Islam, in his life time.The taking of Mecca and Medina make interesting history reading.Today no non muslim can propagate any other religious belief without  running  the risk of instant retribution in all muslim majority religion  states. Non muslims are harrassed. Apostasy Acts are used to put non believers in jail on trumped up charges.Non believers are being hounded out so that only islamic adherents are left behind.This is the global plan by these fundamentalists which is not really new but is allowed by the West whose people are not interested at all and will one day suddenly find they are to fall in line by people who they allowed into their countries.

It is true that for more than 700 years Islamists ruled Spain. Actually America was found because Europeans found it difficult to reach India because of the large muslim block of nations in between? The Mediterranean Sea was over-run by their  ships. European maritime nations who wished their ships to ply without interference from muslim pirate ships paid tribute money to Morocco Muslims who have since the WW11 gone as workers to Europe are now a considerable force in many European countries by sheer natural growth.

Similarly we have today  Islamists generally  leading terrorist movements all over the world, spilling innocent blood. Pakistan is a terrorist State with its military more interested in the spread of Islam. Muslims  from Somalia are the  modern day pirates collecting tribute monies?THE POINT IS , IS THERE SOMETHING INHERENTLY IN ISLAM, WHICH ALLOWS ITS FOLLOWERS TO SPILL BLOOD AND EXPLAIN ALL THESE WRONGS BY A REFERENCE TO SOME PORTION OF  THEIR BOOKS?HOW THEN CAN THEY SPEAK OF BROTHERHOOD OR PEACEFUL INTENTIONS?

IS IT TRUE THAT  INDIAN MUSLIMS  BOYS ARE NOW TARGETING HINDU AND CHRISTIAN GIRLS, OFFERING THEM  MARRIAGE,THIS SCHEME  IS SAID TO HAVE BEEN HATCHED AND FINANCED FROM SOMEONE IN THE MIDDLE EAST COUNTRIES?  THEIR BOOK TALKS OF CHRISTIAN AND JEW GIRLS AS ACCEPTABLE BUT HINDU GIRLS WOULD BE  SOMETHING NEW.IN ORDER TO MAKE CONVERSIONS  IS EVERYTHING  ALLOWED?

DO THEY EXPECT OTHERS TO WATCH THIS DRAMA AND ALLOW IT?SHOULD NOT THIS BE STOPPED AND A STRICT WARNING BE ISSUED  BY THEIR  ISLAMIC CLERGY  TO THE MISGUIDED AMONG THEM  TO  STOP THESE STUPIDITIES.OTHERWISE THE CONSTITUTION MAY HAVE TO BE AMENDED TO ENSURE THAT SUCH NONSENSE IS TREATED AS AN OFFENSE MERITING THE STIFFEST PUNISHMENTS .THE MUSLIMS STAND TO LOSE MORE THAN OTHERS AS THEY ARE SUSPECT  EVEN NORMALLY BECAUSE OF ALLEGATIONS  THEY ARE CLOSE TO  PAKISTAN ,THE  MOTHER OF TERRORISM IN THE WORLD..

CHINA IS BUILDING FACTORIES,ROADS, BRIDGES IN AFRICAN COUNTRIES WITH CHINESE LABOUR.

China has been receiving many contracts from african countries  to do all types of works against tenders won by them or in the shape of aid  to these countries.China is said to have invested billions in these works in several of these countries.They are also in the Sudan which has quite a bad record in the world because of Dafur ,where millions have lost their lives and been dispossessed and are even now living in camps without elementary human requirements. China does not interfere in the affairs of these countries, as one would expect of a communist country.It is said that  the chinese workers too who speak only chinese are from their slave camps.Many are not even qualified to do the jobs they are expected to handle and accidents are common, like in our country ,leading to loss of their lives and of others  Their workers are slaved worked.China is on a mighty  drive to protect itself and its requirement of raw materials to feed its factories by advance planning, while our government and our private firms appear to be struck by paralysis.When will we awake, if at all?Fortunately Christian leaders of Churches in Africa are awakening and are now alive to the new imperialism that is following in the steps of the Europeans, who have been exploiting them  and robbing them of their minerals and raw materials for centuries and spreading disease and dissonance among them (Comments)

It is foolhardy to believe they would be on any other path.Imagine Mao having chosen to fight Chiang Kai Shek in any other fashion.This misguided lot of comrades , full of ideology, believe the State has to be destroyed before  the common man can be truly liberated  and violence is the only way forward?

While it is true Indian democracy has failed the common man as all the pillars of Indian Democracy i.e. the Legislature,the Administration The  judiciary,the Press are not vibrant.Yet violence is self defeating.Too much blood of innocents gets spilt. The powerful escape.Unfortunately  hot heads do not like to reason.It happened in  Sri lanka.The late LTTE leader would have been living today if he had seen reason and stepped back and led his people into the El dorado.But he did not.He is no more.His tamil people are still suffering.

Will our  Naxal  hot heads see the reading on the wall.The State is more powerful. The sufferers will be the common people whose interests and cause they are fighting for. How long can one  fight from jungles.Its like the Al-Qaida fighting from the mountains of Afghanistan. A lost cause, even though it is reported  every fourth person in the world  follows Islam? MURDOCH WANTS CHINA  TO OPEN UP ITS MEDIA LIKE INDIA.

In every matter when the two countries are compared,India generally comes second .Therefore it feels nice when the great media Moghul Murdoch expresses happiness that he finds India a good place for the growth of the media because of  a competitive market.He also says that Japan should learn from India.It is strange that Murdoch does not stress the fact that Indians speak the English language which neither the Chinese of the Japanese do.Therefore Indians are more proficient in many matters which makes them closer to the western world. There is no other secret.We have to thank the British for this.Its only however the middle class whcih is getting the benefits  although with rising educational standards more and more indians are studying the language.

Regarding the Bollywood -Hollywood connection. the less said the better.Mr Anil Ambani  seems to be getting all the coverage because he has the money which has  nothing to do with his expertise.

Mr Murdoch’s Star T.V.  uses  only those languages and stories that keep the indian women shackled to backwardness  and all the other channels  follow suit His Station is scared of having an English Channel, as the best speakers of the language are members of a minority community, who not being  strong enough cannot make   themselves felt and are denied  the  so called advantages of which Mr Murdoch preachaes.Thus strong stories and modernism is lost to the Indian nation.The Chinese are better off ignoring Mr Murdoch views (comments?)

MR KARAN JOHAR  APOLOGISES to the Raj, FOR USING THE OLD WORLD OR WORD “BOMBAY” IN A NEW FILM DIRECTED OR FUNDED BY HIM.

Poor Mr Karan Johar.Suddenly this peaceful guy finds he has used a bad word,BOMBAY instead of MUMBAI in some scene in  his latest film. He and others have large amounts invested in this film ,it is reported. Wisely he saved losing heavily, by a simple apology, to a joker,of which our country is so  full  of  now. These are found  in all our political parties including those who are ruling

Now with the large change in  spellings of the names of cities, towns,names of politicians etc etc,the Takres have become Thakerays, which is gujrathi and not maharastrian,matters have become  is quite problematic  In marathi the word (Takre)  translates  into english   “Throw” .So stone throwing, ball throwing becomes their  brand .

Incidentally what happens if  old  Poona  is used instead of the  new  Pune. A host of  spellings and names  of cities and towns  have been changed by these chauvenists, which  is the only  work  done by them in the last  15 years of administering the BMC.Of course none of the stone throwers and damagers of public properties are bothered about the corruption that has made millionaires  of their leaders,Why should they, since most of the  the leaders of other  parties  too have  also doubled their assets, while ministering allegedly  to the am admi? So we can now expect every film to commence with a disclaimer  that no offence should be taken by any person in the auditorium , if the uneducated actor were to mispronounce or spell the name of a maharastrian city, while dialoging, during the course of the  film.None should also damage properties since  these  belong to the exhibitor and not  to the party that has produced the film,who in any case is very sorry.

India is the worlds largest democracy.It is also the worlds largest oligarchy. We have now become the worlds  newest joke.

It is true that Bandra,  once the jewel of the suburbs, is in marathi Vandora or Bandora.Now this would mean “Monkey” in Marathi.Then  Andheri  should be Undheri.Imagine calling lakhs of citizens “undheres” in marathi. Translated in .English=Rats

LEADERS STANDING FOR ELECTION MAKE OPEN DECLARATIONS  ABOUT   DOUBLING  THEIR ASSETS  IN A SPAN OF FOUR YEARS.

Harvard University  may like to make case studies of our how our  leaders holding offices as Ministers, Corporators of BMC, and  others holding  elected posts of  service to the people, are  declaring steep increase in the value of  their assets. Each one is also giving Income Tax clearance  certificates about this new found wealth.

Mr SAlman Khurshid ,our Minister for Company Affairs, is reported to have said that many CEO’s in Indian Companies  are receiving VULGAR compensations and something must be done about it. What about these guys, his colleagues, who are also public servants ? What is proposed to be done about it?

SHIV SENA CHIEF OPPOSES  MEMORIAL FOR CHHATRAPATI SHIVAJI IN THE SEA OFF MARINE DRIVE.

All the maharastrian leaders are now, at “sea”, about the memorial to the great maratha king.This includes those who say they owed inspiration to or from him.The news is with global warming the entire city may get drowned ,so is this  a valiant  attempt to save unnecessary expenditure during this period of austerity. CHINA IS BUILDING A RAIL LINK TO MYANMAR .

We are building rail links to Bhutan and Sikkim..Our projects  are peaceful and unconnected to war strategy unlike as reported China’s link  to Myanmar .No good  reasons are given for  the  worries  expressed  in the report in the Times of India of 5th October.It says that even Nepal is being connected by rail to China, not by the Chinese Government but by private  chinese companies.Our private companies  have better things to do like building links to the assets of our leaders, which are exploding.

In any case we have best expertise in building and maintaining rail lines.We should be competing the Chinese in Africa, which needs to be helped by opening up its vaste areas to  bring development to their peoples.

The fact remains that the people of china have made tremendous strides in their living standards, unlike ours .In our country even a measly  scheme to uplift the poor by  the NREGA  i.e.NATIONAL RURAL EMPLOYMENT GUARANTEED ACT ,is being stumped  by the very rural leaders who were  expected to dole these funds to the poor of  their villages. Yet there is no exemplary punishment meted out to these criminals.In china they would most probably  have been shot.In ours it will take 20 years for our courts  to deliver justice to these rogues, as  it  takes a minimum of 20 years for them  to decide  cases.

AIR INDIA IN  GREAT FINANCIAL TROUBLE  JUST LIKE  OTHERS COMPANIES OF OUR AVIATION INDUSTRY.

Some time in the  early fifties, Air India held a test for Pursers.Bob D’cruz was a good neighbour .He was a senior Ground Engineer and an important social figure in the company.He asked me to take the interview for the job. This was said to be the first time men were to be appointed as pursers.Prior to this only women were doing the job as airhostesses . Air India was then  the only national  aviation company that flew to foreign shores.I appeared for the test.On the  board taking the interview  were  Ms Green, Head  of the Airhostesses and Mr Khote, the son of  the famous Indian Film Star Ms Durga Khote.I answered all their questions but then Mr Khote threw me a googly.In chaste French,I had studies french in college, he asked me  to translate “QUEL EST LE TEMPS’ Now his accaent on temps was french .It sounded timps and I had been taught the sound” temps” by good Fr Mascarhanes.I was bowled  over  and failed the test. I would otherwise have been in AIR INDIA and  also been receiving free flights once a year for self, wife and children(Two) and would  now have been at the receiving end like so many exs  are now worried that all their days of free travel to their babas  homes in U.K .and U.S are drawing to a close as AIR INDIA is said to have become sick.

Now everybody of these exs has a reason for this sickness.Some say it is the Minister.Others say its the Pilots and Engineers who are over paid.The Pursers who married all the airhostesses and started import -export firms are never mentioned None want his free pass cancelled.No  good  reasons for continuation of these are given, but each  argues that if the minister’s cook or the CEOs somebody, can travel free and in Ex Class, they too should be allowed this facility afterall they gave the best years of their lives to the company and when they left it was not sick.A prickly situation. Fools rush in where angels fear to tread, so I too will leave it at that.Anyway a committee has been appointed to understand the  reasons for the sickness and offer  remedies.Lets hope free passes are not effected?

MR GURUDAS KAMATH CELEBRATED  HIS BIRTHDAY A FEW DAYS  AGO BUT WE  HAVE NO IDEA  OF HIS WHERABOUTS AFTER HIS SUCCESS  IN THE LAST  ELECTION FROM THIS AREA THAT PROPELLED HIM TO THE LOK SABHA AND A MINISTERSHIP.

Dear Mr Kamath, where are you and how does one connect with you  these days ? There are so many issues which your constituents want you to solve  in this area,connected with ecology etc, etc Do we have to ask the P.M to spare you from attending meetings in Delhi so you can have  some time for  Andheri and  Jogeshwari. Its the same old trouble of people disappearing after winning an election but the late Mr Sunil Dutt was always around  when he won from this area so he always won?Mr Kamath a warning.

POKHRAN II

The N.S.A.Mr M.K.Narayanan has now stepped into the fray and given his solemn benediction about what took place at the nuclear site.All that Mr Santhanam said was rubbished by Narayanan.Now Mr Narayanan who is holding on to  his chair for reasons the Nation has not been advised about, is said to have a long record even prior to 1962.Nobody really knows what this gentleman was  doing then in the GOI.However on 26/11 he was the N.S A.and he failed .He should have been sacked? The P.M  owes it to the nation  to explain why this person is still being kept as NSA.

Now this gentleman is privy to very sensitive information.According to his own statement,he even presides over  meetings at the Secretariat when the Home Minister is absent.This person, unlike a Minister has not sworn the oath of  secrecy  etc etc.He has no  technical  background and is not a  nuclear scientist ,yet he walks in battle mode against Mr Santhanan,  and makes uncalled for. statements Why should we have hm talking on T.V.Should he not be restrained by his Ministers to keep shut and to attend  his duties silently, which is to advise his Ministers.In any case, what are the  special qualities he possess that he is still  retained as our NSA

The NSA should be held by an ex military officer who with his training and background will do a much better job than this failed individual.

ELECTIONS TO THE VIDHAN SABHA.

The Oligarchic hordes were out demanding tickets for the forthcoming elections in Maharastra and elsewhere. In Maharastra 50 are said to have made the grade..All the Parties in the fray are suffering from this self  home grown  virus. As the years progress, we will have more and more of these characters making demands  Then  they will have  armies of armed men to do battle for their interests.Why are we the citizens  of India watching the destruction of our democracy?

PROMISES ARE BEING MADE IN MANIFESTOS:The SS and BJP MANIFESTO

The Shiv Sena and BJP  Combine have issued a manifesto which makes interesting reading  as reported in todays newspapers.

Their first promise is 80% reservation in all Govt  jobs to Sons of the Soil.Presently 50% of all Govt  jobs are reserved for S.C. and Tribals.So 30% more should now be available to Maharastrians i.e Hindus,,Christians and Muslims.The point is why do we need  outsiders to fill in any jobs in the Maharastra  Government Departments, unless they also talking about the private sector jobs? The Congress must clarify this matter in their manifesto

2.Right to recall incompetent M.L.A.This is a strange promise.How can an uneducated individual deliver in the first place.The Vidhan Sabha is the Institution that frames laws Therefore many of the persons who have been selected would attract this provision and will be sacked even before they are elected. Moreover  what is and who will determine incompetence?

.What is actually missing and deliberately is the issue of CORRUPTION.We have seen in 15 years administration by the SS and the BJP of the BMC ,the extent corruption has grown and the role of their elected Corporators in accumulating wealth..This recall provision is eyewash.Unless the Constitution is amended it  cannot be done.There is no right of recall in our constitution.

In the Corporation they have snatched Green plots.They have built clubs on these plots in violation of law.They  do not allow the public entry into these areas,They are in cahoot with Builders, who are allowed all facilities as long as some flats are given gratis to them.Why should land in urban areas be valued at such high rates.How can  housing complexes come up in urban areas at rates which the common man residing in them  can buy a home or  plan for a future purchase ,if the land mafia is allowed freedom  to operate.The manifesto is silent on this entire subject.

3.24 hour power at subsidised rates to all citizens.This is impossible ,as it takes at  least 5  years or more from the planning stage  to supply power.They will have to get sanctions from the Centre, Funds etc etc  which all takes  time.This is a pious wish although a good one

Then we are told they are planning for plants which will convert sea water into potable water.This is too expensive a proposition unless they will subsidise the rates fully.It costs at the retail Rs 5.50 per litre.If each person is allowed 750 litres a day imagine the cost. Instead they should have  planned for pipelines to take such water to the arid regions like Marathawada and ask the Centre to bear the costs for  keeping the area green.There is no plan for development of food and fruit industries in their manifest.

4.Write off of loans of farmers..A very wrong method.Instead they should have  devised a methodology whereby farmers and others who cannot pay presently ,will be strengthed  economically to  pay back loans, so that  in future they will not require these. A bad promise.

Why not study the reasons farmers are in debt.Is it because they were caught with lack of seed or a dry period with no rains.Would not this have required better arrangements for farmers and their families to ensure they are better equipped  to meet all exigencies.This can only happen if plans are drawn up for more regional farmers agricultural assistance centres manned by experts.Why  is there no mention of this in the manifesto?

5.Loans to farmers at 4%.Bad in law as discriminatory.What about the urban poor who need housing loans. Who will bear the load if the farmer still cannot pay back?

6.Why pension scheme only for farm labourers what about all the others.Bad in law as it is discriminatory.

7.Extension of sea link.What has this got to do with being an  M.LA.This is the job of the Corporator

.Instead we should like to see the State develop nurseries for Sports and build  Stadiums.

.There is no mention of how the common man will be provided entertainment  cheaply.

The rest of the manifesto is all hogwash.There has been no study about the problems the common  people are faced with today .Some specialities of the maharastrian palate will be sold  it is reported  without tax added to them.All these are presently available in the retail without tax.In future will these be available at half their price thru special kiosks and who will ensure their quality?

There is no mention about appointment of more and more judicial officers to improve  the legal delivery system where lakhs of cases are pending mostly because lawyers and judges are  in cahoot with each other. Cases take years to be concluded.

In the manifesto there is no priority for good medical  insurance  schemes for the people , which can only happen when LIC and other public/private  sector firms are faced with competition.The manifesto could have given indications about the party’s readiness to start   such a firm  in competition to LIC, to provide people friendly medical  insurance schemes.?

The so acalled provision of good medical attention can also  only come when there are  also sufficient hospitals and medical staff to man them.Till this happens it is all a dream wish.

This manifesto has been  formulated it would appear , without much thought.

A manifesto must offer people at large a promise of administrative reforms so that these structures are made more and more  people friendly and participatory,based on peoples  yearning for well being, wholeness , justice, freedom and social responsibility.The dignity of the human person has to be ensured.Laws must be visited  regularly Life of all citizens be such where they are served honestly by honest individuals.

Then there is the issue of huge expenditures on providing police protection to an army of  politicians. Can this not be stopped so that the police are  better used  on providing protection to ordinary citizens and  such heavy expenditures curtailed.

Politics and politicians must behave in a profoundly ethical way.We know of  some of these persons  put up for election refusing to speak or meet with their constituents  if they did not speak marathi.or refuse representations made to them  in English.If this is the attitude  of a person who is only a Corporator ,what can one expect from such  individuals as a MLA who is supposed to make laws.?.

Ethical  behaviour  ensures that the growth of the individuals assets keep pace with his known sources of income.Let each of these persons standing for election publish their life history of rags to riches, before coming for votes.

There is no mention on more utilisation of solar energy and how those wanting to   install such gadgets will be helped.How the Government will fight pollution.How public gardens and parks will have arrangements for rain water harvesting for whcih large grants will be given by the State.How greening the State will be given top proiority.How the tall towers installed by Cell Firms will be regulated as they are spreading dangerous cancer because of unregulated  radiation waves  dangerous to humans.

After reading the press reports  of the SS /BJP Manifesto it seems to be most ordinary.It is clear that the requirements of Mumbai citizens will  be best served only  when they  have, what is their right . A City State.

BMC CUTS WATER SUPPLY TO GARDENS IN MUMBAI.

OUR BMC WHICH HAS BEEN UNDER THE FASCIST PARTY RULE FOR MORE THAN 15 YEARS NOW HAS CUT OFF ALL WATER CONNECTIONS TO PARKS AND GARDENS IN MUMBAI,ON THE PLEA THAT THESE ARE SECONDARY AND NOT USED BY THE PUBLIC.

THERE IS  NO DEARTH OF  JOKERS  IN THIS CITY AND THEY  SEEM TO BE  CONCENTRATED IN THIS  BODY.THESE  NUTS SHOULD KNOW THAT NOT ONLY WILL THE GREENERY GET BURNT OUT  IN A SHORT WHILE WITHOUT WATER  BUT PRESENTLY USERS OF THE PARKS  ARE  USING CORNERS AND  MAKING THEM STINK.THIS  IS  HAPPENING IN PARKS AND GARDENS ALL OVER THIS CITY.

FATHER OF THE GREEN REVOLUTION IS NO MORE.DR NORMAN BORLAUG PASSES AWAY AT THE AGE OF 95.

In one of my recent posts, I touched on the wonderful work of Dr Norman Borlaug,the father of the green revolution in the world  I  had wondered if our Government had honored this great scientist,for the work done by him,in raising our wheat production,by introduction of new strains, in the 60-70 tys.I have since been told the G.O.I.did honor him and so did the world community that gave him the Nobel Peace Prize,way back when he was 56 years old.He just passed away at the ripe age of 95.

Actually the subject of Dr Borlaug and the work he had done for our agriculture and  in making Punjab our wheat basket and  India from a wheat importing nation,into a wheat exporting one,came up , during my morning walk at our ALM Park, when  I bumped into Professor M.P.Singh,Former Head,University Department of Rural & Co-Op,Bhagalpur University,Bhagalpur,Bihar.Dr Singh  had not heard of Dr Borlaug and I had forgotten the  name.However the name of Dr M.S.Swaminathan,cropped up,since our Professor was a friend of this Indian Scientist ,who  had  also made large contributions to our agriculture and had been honored by the Indian Government.I promised to give our friend the name the next day and I did by reference to my diaries.

Professor M.P.Singh, a  renowned scientist in the field of rural economics  is now retired .He is also much troubled by his eyes,which are infected with a disease which renders  him close to blindness.We understand that some progress is being made in stem cell research which could give him a cure.Lets hope this happens soon, as we need such valuable people especially for developing our rural development programmes, even tho his is now retired.

MUMBAI NEEDS TO BE MADE INTO A CITY STATE .LIKE DELHI AND CHANDIGARH.

In a recent interview with HDFC Chairman,Mr Deepak Parekh(E.T.14 September 2009.), with Mr George Cherian,Banking  Editor of ET NOW, in reply to the  question  about making Mumbai into an international financial Centre etc etc had this to say and I quote

“WE NEED TO FIRST IMPROVE THE STANDARD OF LIVING OF MUMBAI CITIZENS.I THINK THE GOVERNEMNT OWES THE CITIZENS THAT.WE NEED BETTER TRANSPORTATION,WE NEED PROPER HOUSING,WE NEED BETTER AMENITIES FOR THE SLUM DWELLERS.THE QUALITY OF LIFE IN THE CITY IS COMING DOWN.THE HARDSHIP THE COMMON MAN HAS TO GO THROUGH IS INCREASING AND I THINK THAT THE GOVERNMENT AND ALL OF US OWE IT TO ALL OUR  PEOPLE.PEOPLE TAKE TWO HOURS TO TRAVEL ONE WAY IN CONGESTED TRAINS.LETS  GO TO THE GOVERNMENT AND TELL IT THAT IT SHOULD HAVE A SINGLE POINT AGENDA OF IMPROVING THE LIVING STANDARDS OF ITS PEOPLE .LETS FORGET ABOUT WANTING TO BECOME AN INTERNATIONAL FINANCIAL CENTRE”

Here is a great personality speaking.What more is required.The only way out is for Mumbai to be made into an INDEPENDANT CITY STATE , under the Indian union,like Delhi and  Chandigarh.Then and only then will we be able to get the amenities  mentioned by Mr Deepak Parekh  and which should be ours keeping in view the contributions we make to the exchequer.

On the other front we have disturbers of the peace ,like our usual fascists, who refuse to see the writing on the wall  and those who were earlier associated with them making strange requests that Northern Indians should have seats in the Vidhan Sabha.

In the Union State of Mumbai which is our demand, in order to get an administration working  for the  true interests of its people, we are not S Indians or N.Indians but Mumbaikars.All the mumbaikers  interests wil be served by their Representatives who will be their Servants in this city state.Representatives of the people in this city state will not need Gun Toting Security men, since  they will behave as Servants of the people and not masters.They will  work to increase love of and for the people ,who will be their main security.So lets first get our demand for this  new City State of Mumbai accepted by  of the G.O.I. by an amendment of Parliament  since there is an urgent need for this CITY STATE. if we are to get what  is rightly ours

INCOME TAX OFFICE RAIDS 12 OFFICES OF REALITY FIRM “HDIL”

Both the issue of the Times of India and the Economic Times of 11,September 2009, carry a newsitem of raids being conducted on the offices of HDIL all over the country by the I.T Department..The E.T  news also mentions of a raid which was conducted  in 1977, without any information as to what happened thereafter.

HDIL is the latest AVTAR of this firm of builders.Earlier  they were .DHEERAJ BUILDERS, or Dinshaw Trapinex or whatever.Now most people are conversant with their earlier avtarsThis firms top people are  reported to be well connected with the political class and it is reported they have in KERELA even created discord with the COMRADES,where it is alleged they have  illegally built on HMT properties.

This reality firm has built  many complexes, all over the city ,in the suburbs,under the name of DHEERAJ.It was common knowledge that they sold flats and received payments  in cash under the then prevailing system of “under the table” and” above the table” .There was no fixed formula,it  varied depending on the  buyers capacity to negotiate with the Gujratis in the sales office .It was also common knowledge that they  even received payments in dollars in the U.S . It is reported that some Air ways employees bought properties  in this fashion.This explains the under-reportal income of  Rs350 crores ,which the I.T raids have discovered(E.T.Sat Mum 12 September 09.} This must have gone on for years.

CONVEYANCE OF PROPERTIES ETC.They have a very bad history  and generally do not convey properties  just like most of the builders of this city.They also are not blacklisted, for obvious reasons and continue to receive contracts from the BMC and MMRDA.Who then is the bigger sinnert?Mr I.T Commissioner  go after  the FAT ONES WHO WERE BEING FED BY THEM FOR YEARS, AS A LOGICAL FOLLOW UP ON THE RAI.D

Coming again to the subject of raids by the I.T Department ,why is it that generally the press reports about a raid by the I.T,but never what happened thereafter.For instance the E.T.report mentions the year 1977 for  an earlier raid,but  again does not speak about what happened thereafter then

ARE BUILDERS CHEATING AM ADMI?

Another issue that arises out of these raids  is the genuineness of the entire reality sector of Mumbai.Are they also similarly making huge profits and under reportal of incomes?Can they  explain why withen the course of a decade, how and why the cost of a one  BHK  now, was a three BHK earlier? KONKANI AND ENGLISH CHANNELS.

In an earlier post  I had  expressed  my distress about the Major T.V Stations  in Mumbai simply blanking out two languages, viz Konkani and English.(both are almost the mother tongue of one minority community, who again are christians in Mumbai) from their programming.

I was advised by a friend that actually it is the Governments of GOA  and the N.E. States who were to be blamed.What stops the GOA SARKAR from starting a T,V.Station in Konkant  from Panaji,and similarly for the N.E.States Governments in English from the State Capitals ,since English is their State language? The people from these states should also raise ,their voices  so that AIR is forced to move?                                   (Comments)

THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH.I am a catholic (R.C.) I am often mistaken for a Parsi. I correct the error by telling the enquirer that i am a R.C.Some are confused and ask what it means.Then I tell them that though this rhymes with parsi, it means Roman Caholic.i.e.one who is in communion with the Pope ,the head of the Catholic Church.A new one I heard from a kid who is in Sunday School at our church, is it means one who is Redeemed by the Cross or Re-enforced by the Cross.I am afraid to explore this definition for obvious reasons.

BENEDICT XVI THE PRESENT POPE OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH.

When Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger was elected to head the Catholic Church, he took the name of Benedict XVI,the secular press, was  not friendly to him as it was with John Paul II and was quite  critical of him, to the extent that he was called a Nazi and a conservative out to take the church backwards and away  from VaticanII. These were untruths.Slowly but certainly Pope Benedict XVI is making his mark on the world scene by well thought out challanges to all

CHALLANGE TO THOSE PROFESSING THE  ISLAMIC FAITH.

He has taken the Islamic fundamentalists head on by challangeing their liberal muslim  leaders not to allow these elements to take control of their religion. To appreciate as those who belong to the monotheism strain that all religions teach that love of God and neighbour  at the heart of  religion.Therefore those who profess faith in God, obliges them to respect of neighbour and of one another.Also to work together to defend human rights and to  help those in need  and are suffering.This implies the total rejection of all forms of violence against others

.His initiatives  were  taken forward by  liberal muslim leaders and regular meetings between catholic and muslim leaders are now taking place.

CHALLANGE TO THE ISRAELIS

He has challanged the Israelis, who were themselves treated  so brutally by the nazis,  to treat the Palistine  people fairly and to understand the need of  those living in the West Bank and  Gaza their rights to a homeland.

In his latest encyclical he has admonished the business community for their loss of values.That greed and avarice has resulted in great suffering to the poor of the world.That in their quest for profits they must not forget that there is one more element,who are not to be by-passed i.e the people.It is not only the share holders who are to be considered as stake holders  but the communion of the peoples of their nations and of the world.That this also implied their  discovering the spiritual and religious dimension  of  the environment , which is gods creation for the good of entire mankind..

He has declared this year in the Church’s calender as the year of Priests.He admonition to all his priests is for them to rediscover their true mission and not to mess up too much with worldly works.(Lets hope the Church of India takes his message to heart and passes on a larger role to the laity)

But the biggest snag is that to get a ticket to stand for election,which is VERY  expensive and mind boggling,,one has to belong to a family of the political class.In the course of the last 60 years , after independence , these individuals,have accumulated tons of money. They are our ruling class.There is none to clean this up.. Every single party ,in my beloved country,boasts of this horde of Sons,Daughters,Wives etc, only being able  to act as representatives of the people ? This system  is rightly  called an OLIGARCHY,i.e.Rule of Families, which we have become.

In our country this is confounded by many families dispersing their members among different political parties

WE HAVE THE WORST SCENARIO AS FAR AS OUR LEGAL PROCESSES ARE CONCERNED.THREE AND A HALF LAC CASES ARE PENDING SOME FOR OVER 25 YEARS.RIGHT FROM THE HIGHEST  COURT TO THE SMALLEST IT IS THE SAME SITUATION THE REAL CULPRITS ARE THE LAWERS WHO ARE THE HAPPIEST AT THE SITUATION.AND THEY WILL NOT CONTRIBUTE TO ITS IMPROVEMENT.THE ONLY WAY IS FOR THE PEOPLE TO TAKE MATTERS INTO THEIR HANDS AND START MOVEMENTS AGAINST ALL THESE PEOPLE WHO ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS SORRY STATE OF AFFAIRS .THE GOVERNMENT ALSO WHICH HAS TO APPOiNT THOUSANDS OF LEGAL OFFICERS IS NOT DOING SO.THIS PROVES WHAT HAPPENS IN AN OLIGARCHY..

The Times of India of 3 rd Sept, reports that Cong (I) workers  in mumbai are unhappy at the growing number of sons and daughters of their party’s politicians  only  being considered  for  the forthcoming 13 Oct Vidhan Sabha elections and are openly showing their distress. Some have even questioned whether their role is only to stick posters on walls.

They should know that there can be only one poster boy in their Party,i.e.Rahul Gandhi.They can also consideer licking boots or stamps.no tickets WILL BE GIVEN unless they are family. These activists call this GHARANASHAHAHI.In  english parlance it is called OLIGARCHY.

We now are an oligarchy. Lets recognize this.Unfortunately for these congress (I) activists, all the  other parties in our country suffer from this disease.Every party has its poster boys. In the BJP  it is MODI,the most dangerous of the lot.He suffers from a delusion that he will be killed by somebody or the other and his police officers feed on this delusion by conducting killings of innocents.Yet this man is not dismissed and sent into a lunatic asylum In the SS it is UDDHAV.In the MNS it is RAJ.It is not fair to call it a disease, as all these candidates  are legitimate children of politicians..They were not forbidden from having children?.The only  class of people.however , who should  be happy at this state of affairs, is the growing class of  gun toting security men,who this political class keeps asking for.

OUR POLICE FORCE.

IMAGINE WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF THIS FORCE WAS INDEPENDENT AND NOT CONTROLLABLE .THEY WOULD HAVE ELIMINATED ANYONE WHO DARED TO RAISE HIS OR HER VOICE AGAINST INJUSTICE TO CURRY FAVOR WITH THE POLITICIANS.THIS AGAINS SHOWS WE ARE NOT A GOOD DEMOCRACY BUT AN OLIGARCHY.

POKHRAN II. OUR SCIENTISTS  CONTINUE TO SLUG IT OUT.

We need to test out more nuclear systems and fine tune some, in order to meet not only Pakistani designs,but also Chinese .This is now required  more than ever . Therefore it is not necessary for our retiree community of scientists to unnecessarily get  involved in an ugly slug fest..The plain fact if that both Pakistan and China  are united in ill designs on us.Pakistan is an islamic state and follows the koran blindly. I.E. Shura 47 to drives its hatred against us It has  always used  American weapons given to it  to fight islamic fundamentalists to target us.The Americans are  not able to understand Islam though their president is reported to have been grounded in an islamic school as a child and his middle name is also a muslim one.The Pakistanis  are even reported to have re-designed some naval weapons  for use against us.The Americans  are   a lost lot bereft of any foreign policy.They are not  trust worthy and if we trust them   we do so at our own peril. Westerners have refused to understand the true nature of Pakistan whose military is the school for training global terrorists.

The C hinese already  have full know how of  nuclear systems for weapons,and  for building nuclear power plants.China has eleven nuclear power plants in commercial operation on date .They are having  five more  built. (World Nuclear Assn Reports) and they plan to build another 32 third generation nuclear plants by 2020.China will sooner or later create a situation where we will be drawn into a conflict,so we must be wary of them.

Lets understand the  situation we are in and not be lulled to sleep Its time  for some of our scientists  to just shut up                                                                     (comments invited)

IS OUR FOOD MINISTRY  IN WRONG HANDS.

Its time to retire Mr SHARAD PAWAR.The P.M should either didmiss him or take the rap for the sorry state OF INDIAN AGRICULTURE PAWAR HAS BROUGHT IT TO.food prices have reached the heavens and are  hurting the AM ADMI.Mr :Sharad Pawar  is responsible for this situation.He has no time for his job,His attention is on cricket,where there is money to be made. He must be asked to leave.or dismissed if he will not.Let not he Cong(i),think that they will easily win the 13th Oct elections, just because they won the Lok Sabhe elections.The situation is not the same.The sugar lobby which means pawar must be disciplined and its hands weakened.They are poison for Maharastra’s politics. In any case we do not want a sugar lobby maratha to act as C.M any more.What is the justification for one community dominating the position? NEED FOR ANOTHER GREEN REVOLUTION.

GREEN REVOLUTION;NEXT ROUND?

Dr NORMAN. E. BORLAUG,, now said to be settled in Iowa,U.S. was  truly the Father of the green revolution of the 20th century.(1960)I guess he must be in his nineties now.I do not know if our Government recognized his work and gave him  one of our high awards. One would not be surprised if they missed  him out..However it is never too late to do so, if they have not yet done so it.

ANOTHER GREEN REVOLUTION

Which brings us to the need for  our Government to do  more to usher in a new green revolution, more so as  climate change is effecting food production in  large parts of our country.One sincerely hopes our  Scientists from IARI,Pusa Institute, N.Delhi  and elsewhere  in the country, co-ordinate with their scientist brethren in Africa,Latin America U.S. Phillipines,etc etc for this, and also to see  that the gains made on increased wheat production are not lost  to the  pathogen that is  destroying wheat crops and is spreading fast as reported , into wheat growing areas.                                          Comments invited. )

Mumbai T.V.programmes.

Why have the hindi channels deteriorated   into Haryani,Punjabi,etc etc.Star T.V has now started a Bengali channel.This is very good,because we should get good quality stuff instead of the rubbish that comes on the hindi channels.Who on earth is keeping a watch to ensure that we get quality programmes.Who is the brilliant gentlemen who are responsible for this rubbish and any good reason why we cannot  have an english language  channel .We can certainly have software to feed a channel.There is also need for a  KONKANI LANGUAGE  CHANNEL?Is it because this class of people speak english are  also musicians.etc etc and could have done very well for quality programming that they are being left out or is it because they belong mostly to the christian community.Konkani is on the schedule of languages recognized by the G.O.I and is spoken by the entire state of Goa and large parts of Karnatak also including mumbai.                                                               (comments invited)
